112-Day Report

Impressive gains and a few pounds difference resulted in a photo finish between the top two indexing bulls in the Angus division. Sanchez Angus' PS Emblazon 1478 edged forward to earn the Top Indexing Angus bull slot for the 2015 Tucumcari Bull Test. With and impressive index of 120 and sustained average daily gain of 4.83, this calf was a force to be reckoned with. Running a close second, was Oklahoma Panhandle State University's bull, PSU Right Time Fline 409. This equally impressive bull, weighing in over 1400 lbs., will add pounds to the weaning pen.

In the Hereford division, Abercrombie Ranch's R A Advance Power 1429 maintained his position as top performance bull with a Test Index of 118 and an ADG of 4.42.

In the Angus Sire Group category, Sanchez Angus' EXAR Emblazon 1010B proved to be a consistently strong group of bulls, topping out the ADG, WDA, and Overall Index categories throughout the 112-day test. Sitz Onward 377S calves from Netherton Angus earned the top spot for Overall Pen Feed Efficiency with an conversion rate of 6.86 lbs. of feed per lb. of gain.

The Hereford division offered different results within sire groups. Abercrombie Ranch's C&M Advance 8203 1007ET earned top spots in both Overall Index (107.9) and WDA (3.24). Cornerstone Ranch had the top ADG pen (3.73) with their Churchill Rancher 986W sire and top Feed Efficiency pen (7.44 ) with their SR Caliber 1050X sired calves.

84-Day Report

At 84-Days Cornerstone Ranch had two of the top performing sire groups in the Hereford division. SR Caliber 1050X and Churchill Rancher had the one and two spots for the gain ratio. Riverside Angus had a sire group hit a gear during the second test period; the S A V Worth While Y9 calves carried an average daily gain of 4.5 lbs per day.

Abercrombie Ranch's RA Advance Power 1429 held on to the top gain spot in the Hereford division, while Oklahoma Panhandle State's PSU Right Time PLFRED 409 continues to dominate the Angus by maintaining 5.38 lbs. of gain per day.

56-Day Report

The first 56-days of the 54th Annual Tucumcari Bull Test started off very strong. We have bulls averaging over 5 lbs. of gain per day. The diet is low in starch which has allowed the bulls to achieve this performance safely, with little or no health issues. Top performing pens have come out of sire groups such as C + M Advance 8203 1007 out of the Abercrombie Ranch. Cornerstone Ranch also has a group of calves performing well; their sire Churchill Rancher 986W is also producing a great set of Hereford calves. In the Angus division, Sanchez Angus had the two top performing sire groups. Both AAR Ten X 7008 S A and Exar Embalzon 1010B sire groups are currently leading with their gain ratios.

Top Individual for 56-days include Abercrombie Ranch's RA Advance Power 1429, earning the Top Indexing spot in the Hereford division. In the Angus, Oklahoma Panhandle State University's PSU Right Time PLFRED 409 hit the ground running, averaging 5.37 lbs. per day with an index of 139.1.
